Aspire Work Right Programme
The main aim of Work Right is to assist and support young people with a learning disability to be prepared and supported into employment.
Our goal is to work in partnership with local schools and organisations to understand the career aspirations of young people with a learning disability. This would be identifying their development needs for training and work experience placements and employment opportunities.This will be achieved through job searches and job mapping in the local employment market, arriving at a job match and where appropriate develop customised employment.
Aspire will also assist young people in job searches, creating a C.V and interview skills including any training they require is accredited and fits the purpose, this may also include visits to the employer, work tasters and shadowing.
We will ensure all Health and Safety Requirements and Risk Assessments are completed, and if required protective clothing will be provided. All legal requirements will be met.
Aspire understands the barriers young people face such as lack of opportunity and discrimination. We can support people to resolve these issues.
Aspire will also work with Parents/Carers regarding best interests of the young person. This will empower the young person to make informed choices about their chosen career path.
Aspire will work closely with local businesses to support employers to maintain work placements and employment opportunities. This includes developing good opportunities with other key organisations such as Connexions, Social Services, Job Centre Plus and the young person’s agency.
This will ensure a positive inclusive approach for individuals to progress successfully into a work environment.
